I always loved leather. The feel and smell of it evoke memories of my childhood: riding horses with my grandfather, holding on to the pommel, and hearing the creaking of the saddle as the horse moved. There is something truly magical about this material. How it builds patina with use over time. How it can be shaped, carved, and finished to yield truly beautiful lasting products.

I focused on small leather goods like wallets, dog collars, etc. I made a point of making it all by hand. From cutting, to dyeing to stitching.

Early on, I decided to document everything on social media. I was surprised at how popular these products were, as soon as I got decent at them, DM requests for commissions started to come in.

Here is an example of the process of making a bespoke pocket knife sheath.

Selling my product to people over IG made me realize I needed a mark to literally brand my products with. Being the geek that I am, I called my brand  “Lonely Mountain Goods”. The logo for it, is an interpretation of the rune on the map from “The Hobbit” book that points to the secret entrance to the mountain.

Leatherworking just kind of happened as a hobby I picked up and I fell in love with it. The difficulty of it, and how in every project you do, you always learn something new. It humbles you, grounds you.
